The mansion is situated just off the A590, a short drive from the M6 motorway.
- From the South (M6): Exit at Junction 36. Follow signs for the A591/A590 towards
Kendal/Barrow. Take the exit toward the A590 (Barrow/Milnthorpe). At the roundabout,
take the first exit onto the A590.
- The Final Turn: Look for signs for Levens/Sedgwick. Brettargh Holt is located near the
junction of the A590 and the A591. The entrance is a private driveway marked by stone
gateposts and black metal gate with signage to the side.
Note: If you reach the Levens Bridge or the entrance to Levens Hall, you have travelled
slightly too far and will need to turn around.
The nearest major rail hub is Oxenholme Lake District, which serves the West
Coast Main Line.
- Taxi: A 10-minute taxi ride from Oxenholme station will bring you directly to the mansion.
- Local Connection: You can take a short connecting train to Kendal station, though a
taxi from Oxenholme is generally a faster and more direct choice.
As you enter the grounds, through the black metal gates, the driveway winds through a treelined drive surrounded by woodland. Continue following the drive until the main house and parking area come into view. There are signs to help you navigate along the driveway.
There is ample car parking round the back of the house, continuing to follow the driveway to the left.
